le weekend is here finally...
It has been a difficult week at work and to come home and feel inspired enough to draw has been hard. Last night was a no-no. However I think that I kinda cheated by having a programme I made aired on BBC4 instead (and it wasn't a repeat either). http://bbc.co.uk/i/nrtr8/ This is Roger Lucas and I filming in Aachen, Germany (think it's for prog 2). Was a bit cold that day.

Day Four

November is getting me down and its only a few days in. Oh well, at least the mornings are light enough to walk to work in the sunshine. I can also marvel at the leaves of the trees on I can see from the window at work. Shipley Glen was bursting into spring when I started my new job and now the scene is a riot of reds and firey orange. The office is in just the right spot, and I sit within it at just the right angle, to see those leaves as a backdrop against the yellow-green conifer in Roberts Park. It makes your eyeballs water when the sun is low and bright.
Today's post is a homage to the view, and to the amazing use of colour by Darling Clementime a Norweigian graphic design company. www.darlingclementine.no/index.php/work.html Besides, there's nothing the Norwegians don't know about dark winters drawing in.

Day Three
A friend asked if my husband and I wanted to fight over a free ticket to go see Wilco in Leeds. Luckily they did had not sold out so we both went. Needless to say I did no drawing last night, but it felt like a good substitute. Wilco sounded bloody good. The lights on the stage were sometimes very beautiful. I am slightly obsessed by certain shades of the colour blue at the moment. It has to be very deep and dark and on the verge of being purple, or rich and lit with sunlight until its almost turquoise. Heavenly.
The picture attached of course does not do it justice, but then I wouldn't want to distract you from Jeff, Erin.
Day Two

I wanted to do something to contrast the bear on Monday so I drew a round, blue ceramic teapot that was a wedding present from my Mum's friend Sheila. The very deep, warm blue colour of the teapot is very lovely. It sits on a high shelf in my living room and catches my eye occasionally.
Speaking of Miss Molloy, my A'level art teacher, I drew the teapot using oil pastels which are, essentially, crayons for adults, and were the predominant "medium" (if a crayon can be called by such a grand term) for all of my GCSE and A'level art work. Perhaps that's why I only got a B for both.
I decided what to draw on the walk home from work and all I could think about was that blue crayon. I love colour.
